There was a waxing moon. When it set the stars were clear, but my pocket camera could only resolve the larger ones.

Some star formations were resolved: The northern triangle is formed by the brightest stars near the edges.
The northern cross or cygnus, the swan, is formed by the left bright star, followed by three stars to the right and a faint fourth one in the middle of the picture.

A prize shot was taken at Lake Aloha where the low sky was not obstructed by mountains. Just after moon set a red "star" also set. It was the planet Mars, our next destination.
